Oscar Marulanda

Oscar is a Colombian entrepreneur with his own company focused upon spreading wine culture within Colombia. “The son of a cleaning woman”, Oscar did not immediately have ready access to fine wine. Undeterred, Oscar persevered, remaining highly committed to his career in wine and being inspired by the example of Gérard Basset. Oscar has had a wide-ranging experience within the industry, working with wine importers, as a restaurant manager responsible for the wine list, in other hospitality roles, and now with his own wine-focused company. Oscar’s ambition is to pursue the MW qualification, which will aid him in two of his projects: 1) To bring attention to Colombia’s rich gastronomy, arising from an ancestrally diverse collection of communities and their recipes; and 2) To develop a teaching program for lower-income students to gain access to wine, learn about fine service and to make a life for themselves through the hospitality and wine industries.
