Eduardo Contreras Perez

Eduardo’s experience in the wine industry is wide-ranging – both geographically and professionally. He has worked in the Cayman Islands and his native Mexico among other places, in the fields of brand management, events, wine and cocktail list creation, cellar design and pre-opening operations. From 2018 to 2020, Eduardo was based in Vietnam, where he worked as both Wine Director and Beverage Director in two different businesses, as well as a Brand Ambassador for a wine company. Sadly, the COVID-19 pandemic curtailed his opportunities for career progression in Vietnam, and so Eduardo returned to Mexico. Alongside these varied roles, he is a passionate wine educator, delivering International Sommelier Guild (ISG) courses to aspiring students globally. Through a grant of funding from the Gérard Basset Foundation, Eduardo was able to grant ten full scholarships for students undertaking the ISG’s Intermediate Wine Certificate, delivering teaching in three locations across Mexico, including two where it is rare to find such opportunities. As an educator, Eduardo knows the importance of ongoing study, and he hopes one day to undertake the Master of Wine Programme.
