Dominique Solomon

Dominique is a freelance wine writer and content creator. Ever since being introduced to the South African wine industry local to her, Dominique has dreamed of visiting the other wine regions of the world, but has sadly found that often, People of Colour in the industry are not afforded the same opportunities as their White peers. It is frequently the case that at industry events, Dominique is the only Person of Colour in the room, and this “daunting” prospect means that many People of Colour “step back” and don’t allow their true selves to shine through. Dominique’s aim is thus to increase the representation of underrepresented groups in the wine industry through her work, and to become “an industry professional that People of Colour can look up to with the ideal in mind that starting a career as a wine writer is indeed achievable by hard work and experience”. This is a continuation of her long standing passion to “uplift, empower and give a voice” to those with a similar background to herself.
