Bhoomi Salvekar

Bhoomi has always been passionate about food and beverages, and this fascination led her to undertake a Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, through which she discovered her true passion – fermentation and alcohol production. To Bhoomi, tasting beverages is not merely a sensory experience, but rather “a perfect amalgamation of flavours, craftsmanship, discovering history, storytelling and bringing people together”. Bhoomi has gone on to pursue a Master’s Degree in Brewing and Distilling at Heriot-Watt University, but she has also gained her WSET Levels 1 and 2 in Spirits, as well undertaking internships in both the production and marketing sides of the business. Bhoomi’s long term goal is to discover “different indigenous spirits across the globe and bring them to the world stage”, reflecting her view that they provide a “door to [a country’s] culture” and which “brings people closer when consumed responsibly”. Bhoomi has been fortunate to have benefitted from the inspiration of female role models within the spirits industry, but she hopes “that more aspiring women find it easier to establish career” in the sector, as “breaking into this field still remains challenging”.
